The artist on her work:

"The introduction of found metal in my three dimensional work has made me more responsive to the inherent properties of the material. I am not interested in the material as it is, but I can see other possibilities in rearranging the shapes by cutting and welding parts together in different ways. The found metal enables me to work rapidly and to incorporate chance occurences into the work. I look for scrap pieces that, while transformed into metal containers also read as strong abstract forms.

In my two dimensional work, I experiment with and manipulate, the innate behavior of handmade paper. Each variety of mark or line, whether drawn, slashed, or inscribed with pigments, is a record of an image I create. The shapes and colors are transformations of primitive forms in a manner both intuitive and calculated."
